Mike Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter

The Mike Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter was built to international standards that exceed all Florida Building Code requirements by providing for resistance to wind loads up to 190 mph. It also exceeds the missile impact tests – the first of its kind in Florida. The construction was in two phases, including the installation of a single-story health clinic and hurricane shelter facility with approximately 39,000 square feet. Governor Charlie Crist attended the ribbon-cutting.
