This project consisted of a new 20,000 s.f. facility as well as a remodel of the existing facility. The gymnasium, constructed with a pre-engineered metal frame and reinforced masonry walls, was designed for the City of Tampa’s championship gymnastic program, which is one of the premier gymnastic programs in the state. Landing pits for the gymnastics were constructed of reinforced concrete to over ten feet below finished floor and then filled with cushions for the high-flying young gymnasts. The administrative office wing was constructed of typical reinforced masonry and bar joists and was joined to the gymnasium via an enclosed breezeway.
